Bromley Counsellor

Supervision/Accreditation in Bromley and the South East

Welcome to my website.

I’m a qualified supervisor and have eleven years’ experience working with qualified practitioners and students, working with individuals and small groups. If you're looking for a supervisor for your practice, do call or come and talk to me about whether I can help.

My main aim as a supervisor is to support and enable you to develop and be the therapist you want to be. I have enhanced understanding of working with adults, as well as children and young people. I work experientially using play and art based processes as well as with the spoken word. I feel this supports understanding of the client/counsellor process, both deepening understanding and knowledge of self, and exploring how you relate to your clients. I have 10 years’ experience of supporting supervisees who work with clients who have experienced sexual abuse, dissociative disorders and trauma. I have considerable experience of working with trainees as I have supervised and taught students to diploma level and can support you around criteria and relating your theory to practise across modalities.

I am committed to working ethically and have supported a number of supervisees with their accreditation process (see below). I keep my knowledge base up to date with CPD, keep abreast of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) changes, and believe in the power of therapy for change.

Sessions

I work both with individuals and small groups. The length and frequency of sessions is often dependant on your case load, but is also in accordance with the BACP requirements of a minimum of 1.5 hours a month.

Accreditation Consultancy

After many years of training, theoretically, professionally and personally, there is a recognition that the next step is to become an accredited member of the BACP. Applying for BACP accreditation can feel like a daunting prospect. However, it is a commitment to professional development and will support your development and career prospects.

“Being an accredited member of the BACP demonstrates to employers, the public and your peers your capacity for independent, competent ethical practice and your commitment to ongoing professional development.” BACP Website

Having completed my own accreditation and having received senior accreditation, I am fully aware of the fear and anxiety this process can evoke.

I have supported many supervisees in achieving their BACP accreditation and am aware of the process needed to be a successful candidate.

I offer consultation for those wishing to apply for their accreditation. Together we will discuss BACP eligibility, their requirements and deciphering what the criteria requires from you for a successful application.

I’m able to support and guide you on your written work but am unable to write the supervisors report as I will not be managing your clinical case load. Consultation offers you a supportive place to discuss and explore your ideas that will give you the confidence to start the process towards becoming an accredited member of the BACP.

Attending this support does not guarantee that your application will be successful, but it does help you understand the process and not feel so isolated.
